NICE recommends that patients use emollients even when the skin is clear. Many people with mild to moderate eczema can control their condition using emollients alone. But helping them adhere to emollient therapy is essential to achieve this

They stop adhering to their emollient therapy. It is a big effort for them to apply it several times a day. So, compliance is a big issue and if they don’t use it then they may get further flares

From experience my patients do no face any problems with emollient therapy
